Juneteenth and Knowing Freedom

My adorably handsome nephew and I celebrate the reality of freedom for those with ties to slavery today and all who have been set free! Can you imagine having people fight for your freedom, and laws passed to honor that freedom, but no knowledge of it.

That's what happened in Galveston, Texas for over a year after they were free. Once they were actually told of their freedom, they celebrated "Jubilee Day," now known as Juneteenth.

If you have experienced freedom breakthroughs in your life, even if you may not feel directly connected to Juneteenth, please honor a friend or relative who is.
